I own a old gas station! I couldn't believe it when the sale went through. I had reached the point where they either accept this last offer or I run. They accepted it finally and I became the owner. Oh my, what had I gotten myself into, I thought. The main building and the smaller garage was built in 1940 and the larger garage was built in the 1950s. The property hadn't been used as a gas station for many years and was the home of the township fire station. Unfortunately they didn't take too good care of it. I don't know how much dirt I swept up but it was a lot. They had boarded up all the windows in the small garage which turned it into a moldy mess. The floor has a catch basin type drain that has several inches of sludge in the bottom of it. The smallest building was just left to deteriorate. Toilet had frozen and broken. Roof leaked, water came in under the door. As of this writing I have owned it for 3 years now and with my next installment I will talk about my "dreams/plans" for it.
December 2017 I spent retirement money to buy an old decomissioned Gas station.
